Need a Break?

Matthew 11_28_2Do you ever feel so busy and tired that you just need a break?

Check out this great Bible verse in Matthew 11:28. Jesus says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” Yes, life can be hard and many times overwhelming. Something that can make a real difference in your life is a relationship with Jesus.

When you surrender your life to Him, God’s promises can become real to you. As a believer, God reminds you, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10) You won’t walk perfectly with the Lord. But when you let yourself get overwhelmed, it’s this relationship that can give you the assurance you need that He who began a good work in you will complete it (Philippians 1:6, Galatians 2:20).

Having a relationship with God is so important. The problem is we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Because of our sin, we cannot walk with or have fellowship with Him. Sin separates us from Him, ultimately leading to devastating consequences (Rom. 6:23).

However, God LOVES us! Even though He knew we would mess things up on our own, He provided a way for us (for you!) to have a personal relationship with Him. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (See also Romans 5:8)

To begin a personal relationship with God, agree with Him about your sin and your need for His forgiveness. Turn away from your sin, accept His gift of payment for your sin and trust him as your Savior (Romans 10:9).

If you are ready to make this choice of following Christ and living your life His way, you might want to pray a prayer like this one:

Dear God, I know that I’m a sinner. I believe that you died for my sins. I accept your love and this gift of eternal life. Thank you, Lord, for forgiving my sins. Thank you for my new life. As of today, I choose to follow You and Your will for my life.

Jesus is waiting to give you rest. “In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” (Psalm 62:7-8)
